Sunderland are reportedly close to agreeing a new deal for promising youngster Josh Maja, amid interest from the likes of Southampton and Tottenham.
Sky Sports News claim that a new contract is imminent, with the League One outfit looking to tie down the player’s long-term future.
Maja, who has always been highly thought of at Sunderland, has emerged as a key figure in their squad this season following their relegation to League One.
The likes of Southampton and Tottenham were linked with the player, with both clubs known for their willingness to both give youngsters a chance and look towards the lower leagues to discover some of the best talent.
Having found the back of the net nine times in just 13 League One starts this season, his performances for Sunderland are not going unnoticed.
Premier League champions Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in the player in the past.
