Southampton interested in signing Josh Maja
Southampton, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are all keeping tabs on Sunderland striker Josh Maja, according to a report in the Mirror.
The 19-year-old has bagged nine goals in 12 league games for the Black Cats this season as they look to get promoted from League One.
Maja spent some time with Manchester City as a youngster but they didn’t offer him a scholarship so he moved to Fulham and then to Sunderland.
He’s now found his way into a first team, albeit in League One, and his performances have alerted some of the country’s biggest clubs.
Southampton are one of the sides who are keeping a close eye on the youngster and as his contract expires at the end of this season, he could be available for a small compensatory fee in the summer.
Saints will hope that Maja choses them over the likes of City and Spurs as he’s more likely to feature for the Southampton first team than the first-teams of those two Champions League clubs.
