Southampton will face competition from Turkish giants Fenerbahce in their bid to sign Paco Alcacer from Barcelona this summer, according to reports.
The Saints are understood to be keen on landing the Spaniard from the La Liga champions in the near future, as Mark Hughes looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Alcacer made only 23 appearances for Barcelona last term but was rather effective when called upon, netting seven times in all competitions.
Southampton’s goalscoring troubles have been well-documented over the course of the last two seasons and it seems Alcacer has been lined up as a summer target.
However, if they are to land the former Valencia striker, it seems they will face stiff competition. According to Turkish news outlet Haberler, Fenerbahce are keen to recruit the player.
Having recently appointed Damien Comolli as the club’s new sporting director, the Super Lig side want to reinforce their attacking options and it’s claimed that the new man has identified Alcacer as a perfect fit.
