A number of Southampton fans have been bemoaning the performance of striker Che Adams in the Saints’ 1-0 away against Everton on Monday night.

Southampton went into the game needing to show a reaction to the Saints’ 3-0 defeat at Leeds United that extended their poor run of form to seven defeats in their last eight Premier League matches.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were unable to create enough chances in the final third as they failed to respond to Richarlison’s first-half effort and fell to another defeat.

One player who struggled for the Saints on the night was Adams, who kept his place having been recalled to the starting line-up by Hasenhuttl for the 3-0 defeat at Leeds United. The forward though was unable to impress and did not make anywhere near of a positive influence on the game in the final third, as his goal drought extended to 16 games.

Adams managed to have just 29 touches of the ball in his 77 minutes on the field, and he gave the ball away on 15 occasions and failed to register a single effort on goal (Sofascore). The forward simply has to offer more and although he was not given the best of service at times the Saints need to start seeing more from him with Danny Ings also struggling for goals.

Southampton fans berate performance of Adams in Everton defeat

Many Southampton fans were left frustrated with Adams’ lack of quality and impact on the game in the final third, with some believing that he does not have enough to be starting for them in the Premier League.
