Southampton fans show appreciation for Ralph Hasenhuttl after Old Trafford mauling

Many Southampton fans were keen to ease Ralph Hasenhuttl‘s pain after the Saints’ 9-0 routing at the hands of Manchester United on Tuesday.

The manager recently revealed in his press conference the extent to which the Southampton faithful have been quick to ensure he does not feel disheartened or out of favour among the fanbase.

He spoke of a flood of mail and messages of support coming from all angles offering support, encouragement and a continued belief that he is the right man to lead the Saints onwards.

Hasenhuttl claimed it had a ‘big impact’ in ‘lifting’ both his mindset and the morale of his players, who understandably feel they have let the club down following such a comfortable unpicking at the hands of the Red Devils.

Bedevilled by red cards, a loss of confidence and defensive frailties, many onlookers will be watching with a keen eye to see how Hasenhuttl and his players recover both mentally and tactically from the Old Trafford defeat.

They will be buoyed in the knowledge that their second red card from the night, going against Jan Bednarek, was rescinded, meaning he will be available for the game against Newcastle tomorrow.

These Southampton fans rushed to reiterate their support for the manager and his team on Twitter after the club posted a clip exhibiting his gratitude to the fans…
