Which of these ex-Southampton players were sold for the highest fees?

Southampton have enjoyed an excellent first half of the season, with Ralph Hasenhuttl having established the Saints inside the top half of the table and putting them in with a chance of European qualification.

However, the manager has already confirmed that the club are not in a financially strong enough position to add ready-made players to their squad this month. That comes with the Saints suffering a plethora of injuries and having had their squad depth tested to the limits in recent weeks.

Southampton released their latest financial report this week, which shows losses and also that they have taken out a sizeable loan to help deal with the costs of the lost fan revenue at St Mary’s. That will only hamper their ability to buy in the transfer market and they could be forced to sell players in order to strengthen.

According to financial expert Kieran Maguire, via Football Insider, the Saints could be forced into selling some key players to raise funds to stabilise their financial situation over the next few windows. That means that there could be a lot of interest in some of their star performers.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at some of the club’s record player sales according to Transfermarkt statistics. From that, we have put together a quiz to test your knowledge on which of these former Saints players were sold for the most amount of money.

There are 10 questions, have a go and see how many you can answer correctly. Good luck!
