Saints fans hail Kyle Walker-Peters as impressive statistic emerges

A number of Southampton fans have hailed the influence of Kyle Walker-Peters as an impressive statistic emerged after their draw against Fulham on Saturday that he had recorded the highest number of tackles in a Premier League game this season.

Walker-Peters have been one of Southampton’s most influential players during what has been a positive start to the campaign for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side. The 23-year-old has fully justified the £12m that the Saints paid to bring him to the club permanently from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and he is improving with each passing game.

Against Fulham, it emerged that Walker-Peters had made an excellent 11 tackles throughout the 90 minutes, the most by a single player in a Premier League match so far this season. It is also the most made by a Southampton player in more than six years (Sky Sports Statto).

The 23-year-old also made three interceptions to help record a clean sheet (Sofascore) and ensure they took at least a point back to St Mary’s.

The defender has made the right-back spot his own at Southampton, ever-present in the league this term, and he will hope to continue along the same level of performance throughout the rest of the season to help the Saints continue to push towards the European places.
