Southampton made the decision to appoint Ralph Hasenhuttl as manager in December 2018, handing him a two-and-a-half-year deal to replace Mark Hughes and guide them to Premier League safety.
The Austrian made an immediate impression at St Mary’s and managed to get them out of the relegation zone to finish 16th at the end of that season. However, he encountered troubles during the first half of his first full season in charge, compounded by the infamous 9-0 defeat against Leicester City.
From that point on, though, Southampton have been on an upward curve, with the Saints being one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League at the end of last season. That momentum has been taken into the current campaign and he is now aiming to guide them to potential European qualification.
