A number of Southampton fans have been reacting to the latest update from Ralph Hasenhuttl that Danny Ings is set for another spell on the sidelines through a hamstring injury.
Hasenhuttl confessed that he had taken a risk by deciding to start Ings for the third game in quick succession after he returned to action from a knee injury from the bench during their win at Brighton. That gamble appeared to backfire against Manchester City when the 28-year-old was forced off towards the end of the first half.
Ings had been in sensational form at the start of the campaign with six goals in his opening eight Premier League appearances, but during Southampton’s recent games against Sheffield United and Arsenal the forward looked a little off the pace and short of his usual sharpness. That could have been a warning to Hasenhuttl that he might have needed a rest against Man City.
Following the narrow 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday, Hasenhuttl revealed that Ings had been withdrawn with a hamstring injury. That means the striker has at least avoided another knee injury, but will probably miss out on the next few matches in the Premier League heading into the New Year.
Saints fans react to Danny Ings injury update
Some Southampton fans were critical over Hasenhuttl’s decision to include Ings in the starting line-up again for the game against Manchester City, while others were just relieved that the injury was a relatively minor hamstring issue and not another potentially long-term knee problem.
Gives him more time to pour over the new contract on the table

Good time to move Walcott back up top, Armstrong back on the right, and reignite the Redmond and Bertrand partnership. Seems like Bertrand only plays well when Redmond is in front of him.

Can’t believe they started him! Ralph himself saying they knew it was a risk. Not minute managing Ings of all people after an injury. Careless!

I agree I don’t think he should have played against city
