When The Atheltic’s Phil Hay posts on social media or shares a story, Leeds United fans rightly trust his every word.
And the reliable reporter was at it again on Thursday.
In an in-depth piece regarding Leeds’ loan approach for The Athletic, Hay dropped an update regarding the Whites’ attempts to sign Southampton’s Che Adams.

Hay revealed that the player himself is keen on coming to Elland Road, however, Ralph Hasenhuttl is ‘reluctant’ to lose him this month.
Leeds fans have shared their excitement at the links recently, with some also preferring the 23-year-old’s services over alternative target Billy Sharp.
Southampton have been linked with an attacking addition of their own recently, with Le Havre’s Tino Kadewere thought to be of interest to the Saints.

We, like some fans, get the feeling that Leeds’ attempts to land Adams could go the distance.
Marcelo Bielsa revealed in his Sheffield Wednesday pre-match press conference that he ‘needs a striker as soon as possible.’
Adams could be that man, however, with Hasenhuttl ‘reluctant’ to lose the 23-year-old, the Whites could be forced to wait until Southampton sign a striker of their own.
Bielsa also confirmed on Thursday that he wants a striker similar to first choice Patrick Bamford, and stats over the last 12 months show that Adams could be the ideal signing.
