Fiorentina reportedly want to sign Mario Lemina from Southampton to replace the outgoing Jordan Veretout.
According to claims from Italian news outlet Calciomercato.it, the Serie A club have identified the Gabon international as a replacement for their departing midfielder.
The Frenchman is apparently poised to complete a move to Roma in the immediate future, with a deal believed to be worth an initial €16 million on the cards.
Fiorentina are wasting no time in pursuing replacements for Veretout, it would seem, and Lemina is the latest name in the frame for the Viola.
The 25-year-old has been told that he can leave Southampton this summer, with the club making it clear to him that he is no longer in their plans for the future.
Lemina himself has also strongly voiced his desire to move away from St Mary’s Stadium ahead of next season, and with Fiorentina seemingly keen, a return to Italy for the ex-Juventus man could be a possibility.
Other players who could follow Lemina out of Southampton
Austin is surplus to requirements at Southampton and simply must be sold.
Hoedt has been given a chance by Ralph Hasenhuttl but has proven time and time again that he is a liability.
Carrillo is not in Hasenhuttl’s plans. He could be offloaded if Southampton can find a potential suitor.
Forster has long been out of favour at Southampton. The club will hope to receive a reasonable offer for the goalkeeper.
