Austin holding out for Premier League move

Southampton striker Charlie Austin is holding out for a transfer to a Premier League team this summer.

The Saints forward is not interested in dropping back down to the Championship and is waiting for a top tier side to lodge a bid.

According to The Daily Echo, Austin has rejected West Brom already this summer, but no Premier League side has made a formal offer for him thus far.

The report does, however, claim that Aston Villa and Sheffield United have both shown signs of interest in the experienced forward.

Austin endured a frustrating 2018/19 campaign, as he scored just two goals in the Premier League for Saints – one against Tottenham and one against Arsenal.

The former QPR man has been told to train away from the first-team and was excluded from the pre-season tour of Austria, as Ralph Hasenhuttl has made it clear that he will not be in his squad next season.
