Southampton are one of a number of Premier League sides battling it out to sign Bristol City centre-back Adam Webster this summer.
According to The Mirror, Southampton are showing an interest in the defender, who impressed in the Championship last season.
The report claims that Burnley, Newcastle and Watford are all also keen on Webster as they look to strengthen their squads in the coming weeks.
Webster joined Bristol City from Ipswich last summer for a fee in the region of £3.5m, but the report does not suggest how much the Championship outfit would demand for him now.
The 24-year-old made 44 Championship appearances for Bristol City, scoring three goals, and was one of the best defenders in the division.
He is now attracting interest from a host of sides, including Southampton, and could get to challenge himself at Premier League level next year.
Southampton have made one signing in the window so far, bringing in Moussa Djenepo from Standard Liege.
