Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed has emerged as a possible transfer target for Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old spent the duration of last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he impressed, and a return to the Championship could be on the cards ahead of next season.

According to a report from Nottinghamshire Live, Premier League pair Burnley and Norwich City remain in the race to sign Reed, but they may face opposition from Martin O’Neill’s side this summer.

Forest are believed to be keen on signing Jack Colback once again following his loan spell at the club last season. Should they fail in their attempts to lure him from Newcastle United, however, the Saints midfielder is on their radar.

Southampton would be willing to let Reed leave the club this summer if they receive an acceptable offer, the report claims.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to trim his squad of its fringe players, and in turn, the academy graduate could be set for an exit, either on another loan deal or permanently.
