Southampton are one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing highly-rated Frenchman William Saliba, according to Poteaux Carres.
The Saint-Etienne star is just 18 years of age, with a bright future predicted after a string of mature displays in the club’s first team.
Saliba is seen as someone who can strengthen Saints’ central defensive options ahead of next season, as they look to kick on.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are not the only team eyeing up a move for the youngster, however.
Fellow Premier League counterparts Arsenal and Watford are also in the mix, with the Gunners thought to be in pole position currently.
The plan is for Saliba to be sold by Saint-Etienne but immediately loaned out again, in order for him to continue his footballing education.
The teenager currently plays for France’s U19s, having represented Les Bleus since U16 level.
He made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, helping Saint-Etienne to an impressive fourth-place finish.
