Southampton are reportedly chasing the signature of Austrian winger Thomas Goiginger who currently plays for Austrian Bundesliga side LASK Linz.
Goiginger has reportedly been a target of manager Ralph Hasenhuttl since the January window, and according to the Daily Mail, it looks as though the 51-year-old could be looking to cement a deal for the player this summer.
Tallying up six goals and 11 assists in 36 games this season, the player would be a good asset to Hasenhuttl with the side lacking an attacking edge going forward.
Southampton are willing to pay around £5 million for the winger which would be a great bit of business should the player make an impact next season. Linz are hesitant to let the player go but Goiginger has Premier League ambitions.
The Austrian has also made appearances for his country after receiving a call up to play in the UEFA Nations League in November.
The Saints are looking to bolster their squad after finishing in a less than convincing 16th place this term, only five points in front of the relegated Cardiff City.
Alternative wingers Southampton could sign this summer
Everton’s Ademola Lookman appears to be one of Southampton’s key targets ahead of the summer window.
Filip Kostic has enjoyed a great season with Frankfurt, helping them on their way to the Europa League semi-final.
Daniel James is a man in demand after catching the eye at Swansea. Manchester United are said to be keen but the Saints could certainly offer him regular game time.
Jarrod Bowen could be alternative after impressing at Hull this season in the Championship, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.
