It’s looking more likely by the week that Southampton will avoid relegation and maintain their Premier League status this season.
However, you’ve got to feel like investment is needed in the summer if they are to challenge for European places again, as they have been doing in recent seasons.
It’s no secret that many fine players have set foot in St. Mary’s Stadium to represent Southampton in the past, but those stars have come and gone.
The likes of Matt Le Tissier, Ivan Golac and Rickie Lambert have cemented their place in the club’s history for contributions at different, and now players like James Ward-Prowse are forging their own careers on the south coast.
We asked you to vote for Southampton’s greatest ever player last week and the result wasn’t exactly unpredictable, but much more of a landslide than you’d expect.
