Southampton remain interested in bringing Theo Walcott back to St Mary’s, according to the Mirror.
Walcott made his name for Saints as a teenager, famously earning a move to Arsenal and receiving a call-up to England’s 2006 World Cup squad at the age of just 16.
Having spent 12 years with the Gunners, the 30-year-old made the switch to Everton last year, where he has experienced a disappointing period at Goodison Park, scoring just one Premier League goal since August.
With Marco Silva keen on building a youngster side, Walcott is set to be deemed surplus to requirements this summer.
The report states that Saints are still considering making an offer for their former player, having tried to snap him up before he chose Everton instead.
The main stumbling block is likely to be Walcott’s age, and whether Ralph Hasenhuttl thinks he can justify such big wages for a player in his 30s.
Like Silva, the Austrian is also keen on promoting youth, which could prove to be a potential stumbling block.
