A 20 Minutes report (translated by Sport Witness) has suggested that the full-back is flirting with the idea of a move to the Bundesliga, but the Saints could swoop to try and bring him to these shores instead.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were linked with a move for the right-back last month, whose contract at Nantes is set to expire at the end of the current season.
With no indication that deal will be extended, Southampton have been named as one team eager to act on the disharmony in Ligue 1 and profit from the fallout.
Premier League rivals Watford have also been rumoured to be keeping tabs on the 21-year-old.
