Inter set to decide against making Cedric deal permanent

Internazionale have decided against cashing in on loanee Southampton right-back Cedric Soares this summer and will pursue first-choice target Matteo Darmian, according to reports in Italy.

The Portuguese defender swapped St. Mary’s for the San Siro on a temporary basis in January, with Inter paying €500,000 for the move to go through while also agreeing on an €11million option to buy.

Signed by Luciano Spalletti to cover for the injured Sime Vrsaljko, Cedric has made just two Serie A and Europa League appearances as well as a single substitute showing in the Coppa Italia.

And now Tuttosport claim that he was only seen as a short-term replacement for Vrsaljko and won’t be retained once the campaign is over. Instead, the Italian giants will look to spend the €11million on Manchester United outcast Matteo Darmian.

The former Torino full-back was targeted by a number of clubs from his homeland in January, but United refused to sell for less than €12million and it seems like he’ll once again be the subject of interest once again this summer.

Tuttosport continued by reporting Inter are ready to offer €7million plus bonuses up to €11million for his services, and with just over a year left on his contract at Old Trafford, United may very well decide to sell up.
