Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed Southampton will struggle to stay in the Premier League this season if they continue to drop points in the final minutes of the game.

Saints conceded in stoppage time at the end of the 90 minutes for the second league game in a row in their 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals Cardiff, after conceding a 94th-minute penalty against Burnley a week earlier.

Hasenhuttl’s side thought they had rescued a point in their crucial tie with the Bluebirds when Jack Stephens equalised in the first minute of added time, but Kenneth Zohore poked home with one of the final kicks of the game to snatch a victory at St Mary’s.

And speaking after the game, Hasenhuttl revealed his frustration with the defeat and the manner in which his side conceded late on once again.

Southampton will fall into the relegation zone should Burnley beat Brighton on Saturday evening, after having the chance to move five points clear at the beginning of the day.
