Southampton are reportedly interested in a move for Manchester City forward Rabbi Matondo, according to reports.

The 18-year-old has never made a senior appearance at the Etihad, and the Daily Mail have claimed that he is the latest in a line of young players to have rejected a contract offer from his club.

Keen to profit from the fallout, the Saints are supposedly eager to add the disaffected prodigy to their ranks.

The teenager made his international debut for Wales in a 1-0 defeat to Albania last year, perhaps stunningly before his first appearance in senior football.

Southampton aren’t alone in their pursuit of the attacker, however. Everton are keen on taking the Liverpool-born starlet back to his hometown.

Numerous other European clubs are monitoring the situation of Matondo, including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s former club R.B. Leipzig.

Southampton will be one of the teams making a pitch to keep him in English football, however.
