The club have officially revealed that Gabbiadini has joined Sampdoria on a permanent deal, with reports earlier this week claiming that he was set to join the Italian outfit on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Sampdoria are though to have paid a fee in the region of £11m for the striker, who is now looking to get his career back on track in Italy.
Gabbiadini fell out of favour under Mark Hughes and only made one appearances after the arrival of Ralph Hasenhuttl – which was as a substitute away to Cardiff.
The Italian international scored 12 goals in 60 appearances for Southampton after joining from Napoli in January 2017.
Hasenhuttl is now left with Shane Long as his only fit senior striker heading into this weekend – with Danny Ings, Michael Obafemi and Charlie Austin all injured or suspended.
