Patrick Herrmann linked with Saints switch
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has reportedly identified Borussia Monchengladbach winger Patrick Herrmann as a potential transfer target.
The Austrian was only appointed as the club’s new first-team boss on Wednesday but according to exclusive claims from German news outlet Express, he is already making plans for the January transfer window.
It is claimed that Hasenhuttl would be keen on adding more pace and firepower to the ranks at the turn of the year, with Monchengladbach star Herrmann a player under consideration.
The 27-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga club expires at the end of the season, indicating that the Saints could lure him to England in a cut-price deal should he fail to agree terms on a new contract in Germany.
Herrmann played and scored in Monchengladbach’s 3-0 friendly victory against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium in the summer during pre-season.
He has since gone on to score two goals and contribute with two assists from seven league appearances for his side this term.
