Roma are considering a move to appoint reported Southampton target Paulo Sousa as their new manager, according to Calciomercato.
The Portuguese tactician has been heavily linked with a move to St Mary’s Stadium in recent times, with Mark Hughes’ future at the club continuing to come under scrutiny.
Sousa has already had three spells in English football following short-lived stints with QPR, Swansea City and Leicester City.
It was reported on Wednesday that the Saints had already staged talks with the former Juventus player as they began making contingency plans ahead of Hughes’ proposed departure.

However, fresh claims on Thursday have indicated that this is not the case, with no formal approach made towards Sousa as of yet.
Southampton’s managerial position appears to be one of uncertainty at this stage, with the club languishing in the relegation zone on the Premier League table.
Nevertheless, if Sousa is indeed a target for the club’s hierachy, they may need to move quickly as Roma give consideration to replacing Eusebio Di Francesco at the helm.
