Southampton have confirmed that vice chairman Les Reed has left the football club.

As per a statement on the club’s official website, the Saints claim that they are looking to move forward and take steps towards improving results on the pitch this season.

Reed, who has been played an influential role in Southampton’s running during their time in the Premier League, has made some questionable appointments in recent years, with fans beginning to run out of patience.

Supporters may have been expecting Mark Hughes to be the one leaving the club, but Reed has been the first casualty this season.

Reed had been at the club since 2010 and had often divided opinion among supporters.

With the Saints looking set for another battle against relegation, Hughes could still leave the club in the not too distant future.

Reports have suggested that the Welshman could be out of a job if Southampton fail to be Watford over the weekend.

Is it the right decision to get rid of Reed?
