Hughes expects Lemina to be fit for Watford clash
Southampton manager Mark Hughes expects Mario Lemina to shake off a slight knock ahead of his side’s fixture against Watford.
The Saints welcome the Hornets to St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday as they look to secure only their second win of the Premier League season.
Hughes spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of the team’s crunch clash with Watford and, as quoted by the club’s official website, delivered an update on the condition of his players.
Wesley Hoedt has been labelled a doubt for the game against Javi Gracia’s side as he continues to nurse a foot infection.
Hughes proceeded to then allude to a minor injury that Lemina appears to have sustained, with the Welshman citing some “tightness in his thigh” as a minor concern.
Despite this, Hughes spoke confidently about Lemina’s chances of featuring against Watford. The Southampton manager said:
There’s a slight doubt over Mario Lemina, who just has a little bit of tightness in his thigh, but we don’t think that will stop him from being available for selection.
Lemina has been a mainstay under Hughes this season and will be keen to keep his place alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in central midfield against Watford.
