Mark Hughes to be sacked if Southampton fail to beat Watford
Southampton are set to sack Mark Hughes if his side fails to beat Watford this weekend.
The Mirror, as cited on the Daily Mail, reports that Saturday’s game at home against the Hornets will be the deciding factor in making a decision about the Welshman’s future.
Pressure has been mounting on Hughes, with the Saints enduring a poor start to the season.
Southampton have conjured just one win and were on the back of a 6-1 demolition job against Manchester City on Sunday.
Hughes has been unable to take some of last season’s form into this campaign, having saved the club from relegation to the Championship last time around.
The Saints are currently one point above the relegation zone after 11 games, with their poor form showing no signs of improvement under the former Stoke boss.
Frustrations have been growing at Southampton and the club will be keen to make a swift appointment if they do decide to part ways with Hughes.
