Southampton have been handed an injury boost ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Sunday, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg set to be fit.
The midfielder was forced to sit out of Southampton’s goalless draw against Newcastle United but after recovering from illness, he is back in contention for the Premier League clash with City.
Hojbjerg has been an important part of Mark Hughes’ Saints team this season and has already chipped in with two goals from midfield.
His absence was felt during Southampton’s stalemate with Newcastle, as the team once again failed to clinch three points.

The draw leaves them in 16th place, with the team having failed to score in their last five Premier League outings.
Saints boss Hughes spoke to the media ahead of his side’s trip to the Etihad Stadium and delivered an update on his squad’s condition. As quoted by Southampton’s official club website, Hughes said:
We’ve got a clean bill of health. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is over his illness – he’s trained, so he’s available, and everybody else is fit and available.
Hojbjerg will be hoping to help Southampton cause an upset as they gear up for one of their biggest tests of the season away at the reigning champions of the Premier League.
