Southampton manager Mark Hughes has been left sweating over the condition of Danny Ings ahead of his side’s trip to Crystal Palace this weekend.
The Saints boss addressed the media on Thursday afternoon as he looked ahead to the clash with Palace. As quoted by the club’s official website, Hughes delivered an update on the condition of his squad.
We’re in a good place in terms of our fitness. For the most part, we’re all available. We’ve got a slight concern with Danny, he’s got a sore foot. We’re going to have to settle that down, he hasn’t been on his feet too much this week.

Hughes is set to have a near-clean bill of health heading into the fixture at Selhurst Park, but Ings’ availability remains uncertain as he continues to nurse a blister on his foot.
Ings was forced off in the second-half of Southampton’s 2-1 home defeat against Leicester City, with an ongoing knock clearly inhibiting his ability to perform at full pace.
We felt that was the best thing, to take the pressure off the area. Hopefully that’ll allow him to be in a better place in terms of the injury.
However, Hughes remains hopeful that Ings will be available for selection as his side go in search of their first win of the Premier League season.
