The Saints star has been an ever-present for his country in recent times following his exploits at Celtic and it comes as no surprise to see him retain his place in Alex McLeish’s squad.
Armstrong started the season well with Southampton but was forced off with a calf problem in the team’s opening draw with Burnley. He has since made two substitute appearances, coming against Everton and Leicester City respectively.

Nevertheless, having put his recent knock behind him, Armstrong will be looking to start for Scotland as they gear up for the start of the new UEFA Nations League.
Before he links up with the rest of the Scotland squad, though, Armstrong will be hoping to help Southampton defeat Brighton in the Carabao Cup second round before an important Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace.
