James Ward-Prowse took little notice of speculation linking him with a move away from Southampton during the summer transfer window, he has revealed.
Speaking to the Daily Echo following Southampton’s 2-1 defeat to Everton on Saturday afternoon, Ward-Prowse explained how he was too focused on fatherhood to concern himself with transfer rumours surrounding his future.
Ward-Prowse was linked with respective switches to Burnley and Watford earlier on this month but no move materialised, with Saints insisting that their academy graduate was not for sale.

Nevertheless, the speculation did not appear to deter Ward-Prowse, with the former England Under-21 captain explaining how he had better things to worry about over the summer.
I mean, those things are obviously flying about, but I’ve got a little eight-week-old baby to look after and to nourish. So, that was my main concern and that was the main priority during the summer. Those sort of things I just leave to happen – if it does, it does. I was just focused on making sure my family was alright, and he’s healthy and doing well.
Ward-Prowse was handed a surprise start for Southampton for their trip to Goodison Park but could not do enough to help his side avoid a disappointing defeat at the hands of Everton.
The 23-year-old will now be hoping to retain his place for the visit of Leicester City on Saturday.
