The winger has not featured in Mark Hughes’ 18-man matchday squads for Saints’ respective games against Burnley and Everton and it has now emerged that he has departed on a temporary basis.

Sims has played only a handful of senior games for Saints over the course of the past two seasons but has impressed with some exciting displays off the bench.
The academy graduate does not appear to be in Hughes’ plans for the season ahead, leading the club to afford him the opportunity to impress away from St Mary’s.
Sims will now be focused on helping Reading to achieve a strong season in the Championship under Paul Clement.
