According to Celta Vigo’s official club website, their loan deal to sign Sofiane Boufal from Southampton has been agreed with the inclusion of an option to buy clause at the end of the season.
The La Liga club officially completed the temporary signing of Boufal from Saints this evening, with the winger out of Mark Hughes’ plans at St Mary’s.
Boufal joined Southampton in a £16 million deal from LOSC Lille in the summer of 2016 but has since flattered to deceive, netting just four goals in all competitions since his arrival.
The confirmation from Celta does not yet specify how much they would need to pay Southampton at the end of Boufal’s loan if they wish to purchase him, but it seems there is no future on the south coast for the Moroccan international.
Boufal was keen to return to France this summer but it seems he will now look to get his career back on track by playing regular football in Spain with Celta Vigo.
Southampton play the La Liga outfit next month in a pre-season friendly.
