Southampton have completed the signing of Jannik Vestergaard from Borussia Monchengladbach, it has been confirmed.
The Saints have signed the player on a long-term contract and will be hoping that he can slot straight into Mark Hughes’ plans ahead of next season.
Vestergaard joins for a reported fee of £18 million, which would make him Saints’ joint-second most expensive transfer in the club’s history, and the most expensive defender to have joined the club.

The 25-year-old is an established international for his native Denmark and was a part of Age Hareide’s 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Vestergaard will be keen to hit the ground running as he prepares for his first ever season in English football.
The towering centre-back has spent the duration of his senior career in Germany, playing for Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen and most recently, Monchengladbach.
