Southampton will face competition from Italian side SPAL in the race to sign Atalanta forward Andrea Petagna this summer.
Corriere dello Sport claim that the Serie A side are also interested in signing the striker, who scored six times for Atalanta last season.
The report claims that Atalanta could be convinced into selling the player, who is estimated to cost around €10 million.

Both clubs are looking to add more goals to their squad, having both narrowly avoided relegation in their respective leagues.
The reports linking Southampton with Petagna only cast further doubts over the long-term future of Guido Carrillo at St Mary’s.
The Argentinian striker joined from AS Monaco back in January but has failed to impress during his time in the Premier League.
Mark Hughes is now widely expected to move the player on and bring in a number of fresh faces over the summer.
