Watford have reportedly submitted an enquiry to Southampton over the possibility of signing Fraser Forster on a season-long loan deal.
The Hornets are already well-stocked in the goalkeeping depart but according to the Daily Mail, the club want to replace the departing Costel Pantilimon with Forster on a temporary basis.
Romanian shot-stopper Pantilimon is said to be closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest ahead of next season, with Watford boss Javi Gracia now making contingency plans ahead of the switch.
It’s believed that Saints are willing to offload Forster this summer, either on a permanent on a temporary basis, and the reports linking Watford with a move could be of interest to the club.
Southampton recently tied Alex McCarthy down to a four-year deal following his heroics for the club in the second-half of last season.
The Saints are also understood to be negotiating a potential deal with Manchester City for England Under-21 international Angus Gunn, indicating that Forster is unlikely to have a future at St Mary’s.
