Southampton are close to signing promising young defender Allan Tchaptchet from Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien, according to reports.
It’s claimed by France Football that Saints are set to recruit the 16-year-old defender for their youth academy after being left impressed by his displays at Under-18 level.
Tchaptchet was previously plying his trade in the youth academy of Auxerre and during his tenure with the club, he was called up the French Under-16 national squad.
A move to England appears to be on the cards for Tchaptchet now, however, as Southampton prepare to ‘complete’ the acquisition of the centre-back.
It’s claimed in the report from France Football that Southampton are continuing their extensive scouting of prospects across the French region, as they “watch the youth market with interest”.
Southampton have previously recruited young talent from France, as exemplified by the addition of Under-18 striker Enzo Robise from Reims last year.
Sannois Saint-Gratien play their football in the third tier of French football, but it seems Southampton are looking to recruit one of the club’s most promising young talents in the immediate future.
