Sligo Rovers youngster Seamus Keogh will sign for Southampton when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the week.
Sligo have confirmed the deal that will see the promising young midfielder join up with the Premier League side’s academy.
At just 16 years of age, Keogh is a Republic of Ireland youth international, having represented his country at U-15 and U-16 level.
Keogh has already featured for Southampton in the Super Cup NI tournament back in 2017.
Danny O’Leary, the club’s head of recruitment has spoken of his pride following the confirmation of the deal.
This is a terrific opportunity for Seamus, and one he has thoroughly earned. The move was on the cards for quite a while and the club are happy with the agreement made.
While we’re sorry to lose him as a Sligo Rovers player, a Premier League academy is a chance for Seamus to continue his growth as a player and we respect that.
Southampton have become known for swooping up some of the best young talents over recent years, boasting one of the most well-respected academies in the country.
