Southampton have ‘enquired’ over a deal to sign Danny Ings from Liverpool in recent months, according to claims from the Daily Star today.
The Reds forward is set to leave Anfield this summer as he goes in search of first-team football on a regular basis elsewhere.
Crystal Palace and former club Burnley have already reportedly expressed an interest in signing Ings this summer, but the Star believe that they will face competition from both Saints and Tottenham Hotspur.

Ings has struggled to make an impression on Merseyside since his big move from Burnley. He has endured an injury-plagued tenure with the club and it seems he would like to resurrect his career elsewhere.
Southampton’s struggles in front of goal last season were well documented, and their move for Guido Carrillo in January failed to remedy the issues.
This could lead the Saints to target a new striker with Premier League experience ahead of next season, with Ings emerging as the latest man to be linked with a move to St Mary’s.
