Southampton are ready to step up their interest in Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong, with the Hoops set to demand a fee in the region of £6 million for his signature.
According to a report from the Daily Star, as cited by the Daily Record, the Premier League side are ready to test Celtic’s resolve for the player.
Armstrong is being heavily linked with a move away from Celtic as he prepares to enter the final months of his contract.
Premier League duo Brighton and Crystal Palace have also expressed an interest in Armstrong previously.

With just 12 months left on his current deal, he could leave the Hoops for nothing this time next year, which may force Brendan Rodgers into a deal.
Southampton missed out on the signature of James Maddison and Armstrong could be considered as a cheaper alternative.
The Norwich City youngster looks set to join Leicester, despite being linked with a move to the Saints.
Armstrong endured a difficult campaign last season, starting just 15 times domestically for Celtic.
