Southampton appear to be leading the race to sign James Maddison from Norwich City this summer.
The England Under-21 international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League and it seems Saints have stolen a march on their fellow top-flight competitors.
Everton and Leicester were understood to be the front-runners in the race for Maddison’s signature, but according to the Daily Mail, Southampton are closing in on a deal for the player.

Maddison was in outstanding form for Norwich last season, as he netted 15 goals from midfield, ending as his side’s top goalscorer. He also scooped the Player of the Year award at Carrow Road.
The 21-year-old is likely to cost in the region of £20 million this summer but if reports are to be believed, Saints will have no problem in breaking their transfer record to land the playmaker.
Maddison is currently recovering from knee ligament damage following an injury on the final day of the season, but it’s claimed in the Mail’s report that he is expected to be back to fitness before the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
