Fulham are stepping up their interest in Southampton defender Matt Targett, according to reports.
The Mirror claims that the Premier League new boys are preparing a bid to sign the player permanently following an impressive loan stint in the Championship.
Following their promotion to the top flight via the play-offs, the Cottagers are looking to seal permanent deals for both Targett and Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Both players were influential in their promotion campaign, playing key roles during the second half of the season.
Targett impressed at the back for Fulham, adding some defensive stability that would bring the best out talented youngster Ryan Sessegnon, who played in front of the Southampton loanee.
The defender is said to be keen on the idea of completing a permanent switch to Craven Cottage, where regular Premier League game time would appear to be more likely after falling out of favour at Southampton.
