Southampton forward Shane Long has sustained a knee injury in training with the Republic of Ireland squad, according to the Irish Mirror.
The Saints attacker was due to line up for his national team in their friendly match with the USA in the near future but it seems he will miss out due to a knock to his knee.
It’s stated that Long was absent from the Republic of Ireland’s training session on Friday as he continued to receive treatment on the injury.

The experienced forward endured a difficult season with Southampton and would have been keen to get back into the swing of things by performing well with his country.
However, it seems he will see his opportunities limited over the course of this period of international fixtures, with a knee injury hindering his chances.
Long scored two goals in the Premier League last season from 15 starts and 15 substitute appearances.
