Southampton owner Gao Jisheng is set to make a bid to take over Serie C team Vicenza Calcio, according to Italian news outlet, Biancorossi.
Jisheng belongs to a group of considerable economic capacity, Lander Holdings, which he founded in 1995.
In the last few years, the 66-year-old has switched the company’s focus from property to sports investment, taking over Southampton in August last year.
The self-made multimillionaire now has his sights set on low-level Italian club Vicenza Calcio, who were relegated from Serie B two seasons ago.

The Serie C side are going through serious financial problems at the moment, meaning they are currently on the lookout for potential investment and a takeover, as they were declared bankrupt in January.
Any group interested in buying Vicenza has to present their proposals by May 28, with the fixed price reportedly set at €1.47 million.
The Saints owner could be planning on a similar plan to Manchester City’s ‘City group’, purchasing smaller football clubs and creating and a string of teams in different countries.
