Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie says his immediate future with the Premier League club is unclear following his loan spell with Club Brugge.
Clasie explained the uncertainty surrounding his future to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, as cited by Sport Witness:
In principle I return to Southampton. My contract runs for another two years. I will talk to my wife and my agent about what we are going to do next season. It is still open for me now.
The Dutch midfielder’s time on loan with Brugge has been far from straightforward. He has been unable to hold down a regular place in the side, even during the play-off period. A lack of regular minutes while on loan has cast further doubt that his future may not be with Brugge.
The player will return to the Saints over the summer, but how much playing time will the struggling midfielder get? Consistent game time at either club does not look guaranteed for the player.
Clasie joined Southampton from Feyenoord back in 2015 for a fee of £8 million, which the Saints will be keen to recoup if they do sell him this summer.
