Manolo Gabbiadini’s future at Southampton ahead of the summer transfer window is uncertain, his agent has confirmed.
Speaking to RMC Sport, as cited by Football Italia, Gabbiadini’s representative insisted that the player is fully focused on helping Saints in their bid to stay up this season, but confessed that they will weigh up their options regarding a potential summer move.
Silvio Pagliari said:
Right now he’s focused on staying up with Southampton. He doesn’t have his head elsewhere. In a month the league will end and after that we’ll see.
Gabbiadini has been limited largely to appearances off the bench this season and this trend has continued following Mark Hughes’ arrival. The Italian international has been on the bench in Saints’ last two outings against Arsenal and Chelsea.
The former Napoli striker has been linked with a number of Serie A clubs, with the likes of Bologna and Lazio both rumoured to be plotting a summer swoop.
It’s likely that a number of first-team players will depart St Mary’s at the end of the season if Southampton are relegated and Gabbiadini’s situation on the South Coast is evidently under scrutiny.
