Southampton have received a fitness boost ahead of their trip to Burnley this weekend, with Sofiane Boufal fit and available once more.
Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino addressed the media on Thursday afternoon ahead of his side’s visit to Turf Moor. As reported by the club’s official website, he revealed that Boufal will be back in contention for the game.
The Morocco international missed Saints’ 2-1 win over West Brom in the FA Cup last Saturday after picking up a minor injury in training on the Friday before.
Maya Yoshida and Steven Davis also picked up injuries in the training session and it seems they will face a longer spell on the sidelines, especially in the former’s case.
Yoshida is likely to be out of action for at least a month as he recovers from a twisted knee, meaning that Saints have only Wesley Hoedt and Jack Stephens available as their senior central defenders, along with the inexperienced Jan Bednarek.
Shane Long is also doubtful for the game at Burnley, whilst Charlie Austin is continuing to recover from a long-term hamstring problem.
