Ward-Prowse admits it will take time to adapt to “new style”
Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has told the club’s official website that it will take the squad some time to adapt to the style of play desired by manager Mauricio Pellegrino.
Pellegrino was appointed as Saints boss following the sacking of Claude Puel after just one year in charge of the club.
The Argentine has come in with his new philosophy and Ward-Prowse reveals that the players are still settling in to the new ideas.
This season we have a new manager, a new style of play and a few new signings as well which have had a positive impact on the team, It’s a building process still for us all, but it’s a positive one in the making.
The Englishman has found himself on the bench more often this season but is determined to fight for his place in the starting line-up.
It’s still early on in the season and we have to keep taking the positives from the games we have played and try and work on that to help us in the long run. It feels like a different type of season.
Ward-Prowse believes that when the style of play finally clicks into place, the team will rise up the table quickly.
After this two weeks, it’s a great chance for us to hit the ground running and take the league by storm now.
