Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has given the latest squad update ahead of his side’s clash with Watford at St. Mary’s on Saturday.
The Saints come into the game unbeaten, as do Watford, after picking up five points from their first three games of the season.
Pellegrino’s side were held to 0-0 draws by Huddersfield and Swansea but were able to beat West Ham 3-2, their only win of the campaign so far.
Coming into the game, Pellegrino has revealed that there are no new injury concerns to worry about.
Pellegrino says that Matt Targett was a doubt but has now recovered and will be available for selection after his failed deadline day move to Newcastle.
Speaking to Southampton’s website, Pellegrino said this:
Matt Targett had some trouble last week, but now he’s ok. I think 100 per cent of the squad is ready.
He has also confirmed that defender Virgil Van Dijk has returned to first-team training. Although, he will have to build up his match fitness before featuring.
Now he (Van Dijk) is training with the team again.
It’s good news, because now everything is normal. I think, obviously, Virgil is coming back from a long period of time and he needs to train and to play games to settle back again, but it’s good news for us.
Wesley Hoedt could be set to make his debut for the club.
